Moving toward new camps in 2010!

Chicago Embassy Church

A third Chicago City Church has invited us to come and share the need with the expressed hope of starting another camp to service the foster children of Cook County.

On December 21 we will present Royal Family Kids’ Camp to the congregation of Chicago Embassy Church at 59th Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway. Founding Pastor, Bishop Ed Peecher is a former Black Panther and a former AT&T executive.

From this church’s inception as a lunch time Bible study in the downtown offices of AT&T to it’s current location in a historic 113-year old cathedral building, it continues to be a cutting edge church.

Part of their mission is to train leaders to do the work of God in every strata of culture here in Chicago and around the world. What a great home to birth Chicago’s next RFKC!

 Heartland Community Church

A year ago Marlene and I introduced Royal Family Kids’ Camps to Heartland Community Church in Decatur, Illinois. Macon County, home of Heartland, has an alarmingly high rate of child abuse. By comparison, in our home County of Cook (Chicagoland) the rate of reported abuse to child population is 24 per 1000. Macon County’s is nearly double.

Marlene and I were invited to become a part of the church’s Missions Convention in October. We shared with folks at a banquet on Saturday and in two church services on Sunday. By the time the weekend was complete thirty people signed up to be a part of the camp staff.

Joe and Angela have first-hand experience with RFKC. As former staff members of the Stone Church they have seen the impact on all involved. The adults who served on RFKC staff are some of the most dedicated people in the church.

About Us

John and Marlene come to us with 15 years of Royal Family experience serving the children in the second largest populated county in the United States. Cook County is home to Chicago, and home to various agencies which manage the care of nearly 16,000 foster children. John joined the national team in 2005 while maintaining his residence in Chicagoland.

Story of the Week

  • What is in Your Hand?
  • Camp starts out pretty much one sided. The children arrive needy. Counselors and staff are there to give the much needed time and attention. Food is plentiful and there is no shortage of activities.
